Authentic Audience:
  • Students will travel to the elementary school and meet with younger students in groups. Their authentic audience will be 5th and 6th graders, but since they will also practice on their classmates, their peers will be their audience as well.
Final Presentation:
  • Students will create an object (Chromebook sticker, poster, model, something they determine) to help them teach about vaping. As small groups, they will pitch it to another group and to the teacher using FlipGrid.

Meet the Educator:
Tammy Holwerda teaches  7th short stories, 8th health, 8th career exploration, 8th relationship health at Hudsonville Christian Middle School.

"I teach 8th grade health and am excited to explore hot topics such as vaping and marijuana using PBL. I believe that when students wonder, learn about reliable sources, dig for information and then turn around and teach others, they will be uniquely impacted."
