Incubation:
  • The class will use “free play” to get students to think outside of the box and explore the possibilities with a piece of equipment to keep them active and moving.Give students 5-7 minutes to explore and as long as they are being safe.
  • The Anti-Problem:  Students will explore how they will be the worst unsafe cyclist ever by drawing pictures and using sticky notes.

Checking in:
  • Students will use sticky notes to identify Pluses and Deltas of what is working and identify what opportunities there are for improvement throughout the project
  • Tell it to a Toddler -  strategy so that they fully understand what solutions they are coming up with. This will help them guage how much they know and don’t know about their solution in each group.

Solution Building:
  • Student groups will  use photographs to show their solutions and then present them to the group as a whole.
  • Followed by the Filtering and Objectives protocol to make ideas specific and on-task to the objectives.
Critique and Revision:
  • Groups will use Dot Voting to narrow our decision for solutions to move forward with.
  • Feedback will be given using the “I Like, I Wish, What if” protocol to get revision ideas and critique from each group.

Authentic Audience:
  • During week one, the authentic audience will be the Velo Kids ED Jenny White.
  • During week two, our authentic audience will be the City Manager and Principal.
Final Presentation:
