Protocol Overview and Instructions:
Creating a safe environment and a healthy culture for your teams will help them build better projects and solutions. Have your teams discuss their hopes, fears and set norms. As students move through their projects, continue to remind them of what they created and hold them accountable.

Educator Thoughts:
This was a success! Most students were able to quickly choose which response represented how they would respond. My class needed to be reminded to choose the one that truly describes how they would respond, and don’t just choose the way you wish you would respond. If I were to do this again, I think I would write some more scenarios to help solidify their creative sequence self assessment.
"Creating groups is a more thoughtful process when considering the strengths of students and spreading those strengths out among groups."
Student Quote:
"I learned that I am an observer and that I can see things that other people might not notice This could help me play a certain role in my group."
Meet the Educator:
I have taught fifth grade at Lakewood Elementary in West Ottawa Public Schools for 25 years. I love this age level because these students are so eager to learn and they truly impress me with what they can do. I am a PBL rookie, but I love what we’ve done so far! "Teaching in the same grade for so long, I am always looking for ways to mix up what I do each year. Project Based Learning is a great way to bring new learning into our classroom." |
