Winter Gear How Might We Have a Good and Safe Recess

Project at a Glance :

When a 2nd grade class at Peach Plains Elementary in Grand Haven got the news that the majority of their playground equipment had to be removed due to safety and insurance issues, the class knew they had a problem to solve.

Driving Question:

How might we have a good and safe recess?

Incubation:

• How Might  ____ Solve This? ​​​​​

• Students generated ideas using the Crazy 8's protoccol.
• Then, students combined their ideas on one page using a modified version of the Rip, Slap, Pass.

Solution Building:

• NUF Test​​​

• Groups drew what the solution might look like and had a Poster Session to share ideas.
  
• Then used Dot Voting to narrow down to the final solution.

Authentic Audience:

• ​Peers 

Final Presentation:

• Students presented their obstacle course solution to the their peers.
