Project at a Glance :

Throughout American History African-Americans have faced continued oppression.  Despite the challenges and hardships faced throughout their story in American History a beautiful, unique and joyous culture has emerged.  This project will nurture exploration and celebration of that culture and the many aspects found throughout American society today.  This project reflects the Michigan state standards and the legacy of this journey through American history.  
       

Driving Question:

In what ways has a joyous culture emerged in the  face of oppression?

  • U6.2 Investigation Topics and Issue Analysis (P2).  Use the historical perspective to investigate a significant historical topic from U.S> History Eras 3 - 6 that also has significance as an issue or topic in the United States today.

  • Setting the Stage Overview
Entry Event:
  • Explore the concept of having or lacking resources -
  • Students will be divided in groups with varying levels of tools and resources to complete the same task.
  • Groups may be created based on the results of the Creative DNA protocol, including placing students with more artistic talent on the same team with lesser resources.

  • Investigation will include creating a​ Stakeholder Map and conducting interviews of stakeholders.
