Business Partner Challenge #2:
What social challenge can we create to help visitors explore the west area of the property?
Our experience . . .
"Our team had a wonderful experience at ODC! They provided great access to their facilities and staff throughout our program week, and our team had a fun question to explore. Our team also enjoyed exploring the ODC's property throughout the week and learning about how active ODC is in the greater Holland/Zeeland area." ~ B. Herman, Educator
"Our middle school team had a great time touring the Outdoor Discovery Center grounds, learning about the ODC vision and working together as a team outdoors. Our ODC program director oriented us to our task for the week: to understand the current use of their facilities and propose an innovative plan to help kids and families explore some less used areas on their property. Our team interviewed several employees, toured the grounds, considered who had a stake in the use of the property, brainstormed many crazy and practical ideas and finally dot-voted down to our final proposal. This was an excellent experience for middle schoolers as they developed skills in working together, disagreeing, reimagining, advocating, public speaking and "selling" their ideas. I would highly recommend this program!" ~ T. Holwerda, Educator

Business Partner Challenge #3:
How does the ODC increase engagement with west Michigan families?
Our experience . . .
"In the beginning, I was bummed to get a nature center. Although, after exploring the ODC network I recognized what it really takes to run a business. I learned a lot through this program. For one, I learned how to work with others. I also learned to focus on the little details to make your plan full proof. After doing future prepped I realized that when you’re working with friends, it makes the project a lot more enjoyable and rewarding. Thank you." ~ Carter, HS Student
“Overall, the students did a great job throughout the course of this session in addressing an issue the ODC was experiencing while simultaneously sharing perspectives that would help the ODC in ways that were unintended. Things became very tight in our timeline, but ultimately the team delivered a product that was impactful.” ~ L.Robinson, Educator
